Joseph Akpala Surplus To Requirements At Belgian Club KV Oostende

Former Nigeria International Joseph Akpala who won just 13 caps with the Super Eagles scoring one goal is however deemed surplus to requirements at Belgian side KV Oostende who have announced releasing the the striker after two different spells with the club.

Oostende released the news via their website today, and soon after the resumption of preseason since the league was ended by COVID-19 in May.

“Striker Joseph Akpala is not offered a new contract and is therefore again a free player. We thank ‘Joske’ for his boundless effort and excellent mentality and wish him every success in the further course of his career,” Oostende posted.

“Akpala played first time at KVO from 2015 to 2018 and in November 2019 he returned to the coast for a second period.

“After New Year he only played in the home game against Waasland Beveren. His contract with KVO ran until June 30 but was extended until last Saturday. Then he played in the exhibition match against Varsenare, but now the collaboration ends.’

The 33-years old enjoyed spells in Belgian with the likes of Sporting Charleroi former club of Victor Oshimen, and Club Brugge before moving to KVS Oostendo.
