Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has opened up about his unconventional approach to the game, embracing his role as a “false striker”.
According to the Mirror, the Dutch youngster explained, “I occasionally drop down to midfield. I don’t do that for myself, but to help the team.”
Zirkzee coined the term “9.5” to describe his position, distinguishing himself from traditional No. 9 and No. 10 roles. He proudly proclaimed, “I am what I call a false striker. Not a No. 9, not a No. 10. I am a 9.5. That’s my game.”
The 21-year-old Netherlands international celebrates his uniqueness: “Maybe I’m a little different compared to others. But being different is good, right?”. Zirkzee concludes.
