Media Aide to the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Kola Daniel has commended the appointment of Super Eagles’ legend Daniel Amokachi ‘Da Bull’, as the Special Assistant on Sports to the President, reports OwoSports.
Amokachi was on Thuraday appointed as the Special Assistant on Sports to President Mohammadu Buhari.
According to his letter of appointment dated August 17th 2020 and signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr. Boss Mustapha, it stated “I am pleased to inform you that Mohammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has approved your appointment as Special Assistant on Sports.
“The appointment takes effect from the 11th of August, 2020.”
Kola Daniel in a chat with OwoSports, believes the Bull as Amokachi is fondly called has achieved a lot with the country adding that the appointment is deserving.
“Daniel Amokachi’s appointment is quite a deserving one, he has served this country meritoriously.
“During his playing days you and I know he is such a versatile player in the field of play, full of energy full of force and he translated that into coaching so unfortunate that his career was truncated due to injury but he came into coaching with a lot of intense.
“He won the WAFU Cup in Abeokuta with the likes of Ahmed Musa, Gebriel Ruben and Solomon Opako in the team, he was the coach of the U23 team and also coached Nasarawa United and Enyimba. He assisted coach Steven Keshi in 2013 when they won the AFCON for the third time, won it 1994 as a player, won the Olympics.
“I think he has achieved a lot for the president to dim it fit to name him the special assistant on sports it is quite deserving, laudable it is worthy of note that someone in the sporting family has been rewarded as the special assistant on sports there is no better way to say congratulations to my name sake Daniel the Bull Amokachi.”he concluded.
The Former Everton of England player was earlier in the year named Nigeria’s Football Ambassador. Although a ceremonial role, as Ambassador he is expected to mentor youngsters.
