The Kwara State Para- Athletes have called on Kwara State government to caution and investigate of executive chairman of the Kwara state Sports Commission, Owosprts.com.ng gathered.

The body accused the chairman of Kwara state sports commission Mallam Bolakale Mongaji of Nepotism, Favouritism and diversion of fund meant for para athletes to another things.

This was contained in a release by the Kwara State Para-Athletes Association dated 9th June 2022 which reads, “we members of the Kwara state Para sports athlete, hereby call for immediate caution and investigation of Mr. Bolakale Mogaji, The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission”.

“Our grouse rose from atrocities committed by Mr. Mogaji against growth and development of Para sports and the para athletes in the state.

“Sir, it should be stated here that Para sports in the state include the following; para table tennis, wheel chair tennis, wheel chair basketball, para soccer, amputee football, Para badminton, para karate, power lifter, para shooting and para canoeing/kayak.

“It is saddening to note that the executive chairman of the state sports Commission has encouraged nepotism, favouritism, and diversion of fund meant for para sports games, against promoting Para sports games and para athletes in the state.

“We have it on good authority that Mr. Mogaji collected the sum of twenty million naira (#20million ) for para games which held between April 9 to 16, 2022 from the state government, but said that the sum of N5 million out of the N20 million released was for something else.

“Sir, out of the 80 contingent that participated in the tournament, 51 athletes collected a sum of N31,000 each for a 10-day programme.

“The executive chairman should be stopped from using the sum of N20 million meant for para games and para athletes for other purposes aside the para games and para athletes.
However we have written letter to Kwara state Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, civil service commission and some appropriate place in government since last week but we are still yet to get any meaningfull response and these could lead us to protest in other to ask for equity and justice for ourselves.”, They wrote.
