Kwara State Government Launches Inaugural Scouting Tournament to Foster Grassroots Sports Development




The Kwara State Government, in partnership with FA Sports, is proud to announce the inaugural U-18 Kwara State/FA Sports Scouting Tournament 2024. This exciting three-day event, scheduled for May 14th-17th, 2024, aims to provide a platform for young footballers to showcase their talents and promote grassroots sports development in the state.

Twelve teams, including SGFC Athletics, KFA, Offa FC, La Planet Sports Academia, Laycon FA, Star Builders FC, Na Royal FC, Dickalo FC, Dohz FC, ABS FC, Dolly P FC, and Abray Sports FC, have been selected to participate in this prestigious tournament. As part of the state government’s initiative to create opportunities for young athletes and promote sports development at the grassroots level, the tournament will feature a series of matches and scouting sessions conducted by experienced scouts from FA Sports.

“We are thrilled to host this tournament and provide a platform for young footballers to showcase their talents,” said Coach Bola Magaji, Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission. “Our goal is to identify and develop young talent, and provide them with the necessary support and resources to succeed at the highest level.”

According to Event Coordinator, Mr. Olawale Olatoye, “This tournament is a fantastic opportunity for young players to get noticed and take their football careers to the next level. We have put in place a robust program that will ensure a memorable experience for all participants and spectators alike.”

The tournament will take place at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin, and is open to the public. Fans and supporters are encouraged to come out and cheer on their favorite teams.

The event would be flagged off with a ‘Football Cocktail’ event, a prestigious gathering of participating clubs, organizers, scouts, and special guests. This exclusive event will take place on May 13th, 2024, at 6pm at the Pool Arena, Whitefield Hotels. The evening promises to be an exciting opportunity for:
