The Kwara State Sports Commission (KWSC) has praised the Kwara State Boxing Association for organizing the successful ILEYA BOXING FURY tournament, aimed at developing and reviving boxing in the state.
At the closing ceremony of the fifth edition of the tournament at the Handball Court in the Stadium Complex, Director of Sports, Mallam Ibrahim Bako, representing the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji, commended the Boxing Association for their efforts.
Bako encouraged other associations to emulate the Boxing Association’s initiative, expressing hope that the tournament would produce medal-winning boxers to represent the state at the National Youth Games and Sports Festival.
He praised the Chairman of the Association, Barrister Ahmed Musa Rufai Esq, for making the tournament an annual event and developing youth boxing. The Commission and government, he assured, would continue to support sports development in the state.
In his remarks, Barrister Rufai thanked the Commission and government for their support, stating that the association aims to discover talents and restore the sport’s past glory in the state, promising an even better event next year.
