Kwara U-17 Youth League Super ‘8’ Tournament Gets March 5 Kick Off Date

In what could be described as the climax of the second edition of the Kwara State Under-17 Youth football league, the Super ‘8’ tournament for the top eight teams will begin on Saturday, March 5.

The soccer fiesta billed to hold at the main bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex in Ilorin will see teams rolling out their aces in the fight for the ultimate prize.

Nothing short of standard display of soccer artistry should be expected as Abraysports FC and Kwara Football Academy (KFA) go in to the tournament with their heads high with the hope to continue their impressive form.

In the regular season, Abraysports FC recorded 60 points from 22 games while KFA also earned 59 points from the same matches- a narrative which is likely going to set an agenda for the tourney.

According to a statement from the league management committee under the leadership of Dr. Isah Omolabi, the Super ‘8’ tournament will further propel the course of football development at the grassroots level and also give young footballers opportunity to express their talents.

Noting that the LMC has made all the necessary arrangements towards the success of the tournament, Dr. Omolabi stated that all the matches will also be streamed live for the benefit of online audience and digital marketing of players.

“We have made all the necessary arrangements towards achieving success in this tournament. It’s definitely going to be worthy competiton that will be devoid of rancour and acrimony” said the LMC Chairman.

While Abraysports FC, Yolvicmike Hellenic FA, Aromokeye FC and Future Stars FA have all been drawn in Group A, the defending champion, KFA, ABS Ilorin FC Youth, La Planet Sports Academia and House of Prayers FA will be doing the battle in Group B.

The league, organised by Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA ) Kwara State chapter among many other aims is expected to serve as a platform to discover and develop young players.

On Saturday March 5, Abraysports FC and Yolvicmike Hellenic will open the ground of the tournament at 10am while Aromokeye FC will battle Future Stars in the second game scheduled for 12pm.

In Group B, La Planet Sports Academia and House of Prayers will lock horns at 2pm while
KFA will be looking for a bright start when they take on ABS Ilorin FC Youth Team at 4pm.

Meanwhile, the LMC, while seeking for the support and cooperation of the participating teams and all the stakeholders revealed that the final of the tournament will be played before the end of March.

A total number of 16 teams registered and participated in the regular season of the league.
