Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu, chairwoman, Committee on Youth, Sports, Information and Culture and Tourism, Kwara State House of Assembly, has discribed the consistency of her state contingents at para games in the country as ample proof of inclusiveness in the the governance model of mall. Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq, the state governor.
Hon Shittu made this observation on Monday at the Package B, Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, where the state contingents are competing at the second edition of National Para Games, NPG, where about 10 states failed to show up for the games.
According to the lawmaker, Kwara’s presence at the games, not just to make up the number but also compete favourably, shows that the state governor is keen about supporting the para athletes.
“Our consistency in showing up at every games demonstrates Governor Abdulrazaq’s inclussive style government. What he is putting in to para sports demonstrates that he is all about carrying every Kwara along. In Kwara, nobody is useless,” she said.
According to her Kwara is one of the few state actively supporting para games in the country.
“From what you can see here, not every state is represented here. But you see that Kwara is one of the leading state supporting para athletes in Nigeria.
“As of today we are 5th on the medal log and we hope to improve on that. The governor is doing a lot as regards para sports in the state. He keeps supporting every competition and games that concerns them,” she added.
