In furtherance to its bid to be a platform where talented footballers can maximize thier talents and have the best of career,the management of the Nationwide league one(NLO) 2 side has hinted on their plan to hold an open screening in January, 2022.
The screening is scheduled to hold from January 17th -30th of the same month at Academy’s football field in Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Speaking to newsmen on the development, the Head Coach of the Academy, Sheriff Jimoh said the exercise will be based on merit with priorty on exceptional players.
“We believe Nigeria is blessed with abundant talents. And as an Academy which is deeply rooted in producing players for professional clubsides, it’s our belief that the screening will help in discovering more marketable players ” he said.
The National Institute For Sports (NIS) qualified Coach noted that the screening will also avail the team the opportunity to recruit players ahead of the NLO 2 league campaign coming up very soon.
Sheriff added that excluding feeding -players from any part of the country will have opportunity to stay at the Academy’s camp for the period of the screening while adding that qualified players will have the opportunity to benefit from the Academy’s welfare package.
He stressed that players will be considered on the basis of their technical and tactical abilities couple with the considerable level of their heights.
La Planet Academia is reputed as one of the prominent outfit in the state, having won one of the most prominent preseason tournaments in the country, Amapro football championship in 2020.
In 2021, the Academy won Kwara State Football Association Super League, AGF Abdulrazaq Cup and YSFON U-17 football competiton.
One of its product, Abdulgafar Opeyemi is currently plying his trade with FK Kauno Zalgris, a Liuthania based elite league side.
