New developments have emerged in the pursuit of highly sought-after Nigerian striker Hafiz Umar Ibrahim.

The 18-year-old sensation has been making waves and that’s attracted top European clubs who seem to be taking notice.

According to sources close to the negotiations, Lazio has taken the lead in the race to sign Ibrahim, following his impressive trial at Chelsea in March.

The Italian club is eager to secure his services, having been impressed by his remarkable performance at the Viareggio Cup, where he scored 10 goals in six games.

Chelsea, however, has been unable to agree on a fee with Ibrahim’s current club, Ojodu City, leaving the door open for Lazio to swoop in.

Additionally, Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt has also expressed interest in the young striker.

In a surprising twist, it was revealed that Chelsea star Raheem Sterling played a role in convincing Ibrahim to take up the trial at Chelsea, following a video phone call between the two.
