Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper Maduka Okoye will get the nod in goal against Sierra Leone on Friday, after an impressive outing in training. Owosports reports.

According to reports from Complete Sports, the 21-year-old who has won three caps so far for the Super Eagles will mount the goal post in Nigeria’s African cup of Nations qualifiers against the Loane Stars of Sierra Leone slated at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium Benin city.

Okoye who was impressive in goal for the Super Eagles in an international Friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia played in Austria last month is however set to get the nod ahead of three other goalkeepers; Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Sebastian Osigwe.

“Okoye is the number one choice for now. He has impressed in training and all things being equal will start against Sierra Leone, ” a reliable camp source told Completesports.

“Akpeyi’s late arrival has made things difficult for him and there is no way he will get nod ahead of Okoye especially with just one training session.

Okoye made his debut in Nigeria’s 1-1 friendly draw against five-time world champions Brazil.
