Players of SELECTED XI showed why they got picked by the scout and agent from Romania after they defeated FC Bethel 3-2, as the Magic Scouting Tournament came to a spectacular end on Friday at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere-Lagos.
Four second-half goals, two each from SELECTED XI and FC Bethel showed the enthusiasm the players brought into play, as they tried to exhibit the quality they possessed to the full glare of the Romanian scout and agent that were present in the week-long Magic Scouting Tournament.
Despite having to train together for less than 30 minutes, SELECTED XI took Bethel FC to the cleaners as they dominated the first half, and got the deserved opening goal within 15 minutes of play.
It was a better performance from both teams in the second half as SELECTED XI should have had a penalty and had two goals ruled out as off-side.
SELECTED XI took advantage of a few seconds slack in FC Bethel’s defence, and got a two-goal cushion for 2-0.
Despite the mid-afternoon heat owing to the high temperature as it was 32 degrees, FC Bethel responded by scoring their first goal to make it 2-1 within seven minutes of conceding.
It was still time for more goals as SELECTED XI regained their two-goal lead with an easy tap-in from the run of play.
FC Bethel then fought back to grab their second of the game to put the scoreline at 3-2.
