Fresh from winning bronze medal from the CAF women’s champions league in Morocco with Bayelsa Queens. Mercy Itimi has rolled back from her little beginning and has expressed satisfaction with the level she has attained so far in her career.
According to Itimi, her move from relegated Ibom Angels to Bayelsa Queens has come with lots of wonderful experience and successes which includes winning the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) title, WAFU B Champions and Bronze from the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Elated Itimi speaking with our correspondent said her journey and achievement with Bayelsa Queens has been ‘remarkable’ and ‘phenomenal’
“It has been an amazing journey for me since I joined the club coming from a relegated side attaining this level being the champions of the Nigeria Women’s league, WAFU B and winning a Bronze medal from the CAF women’s champions league has been remarkable and phenomenal journey so far for me.
She however maintained that it doesn’t stop here with her sight set on getting to the greater heights of her career.
“It doesn’t stop here, there is still alot I wish to achieve as a footballer and i will keep working hard and stay focused on improving myself to get to the heights that I wish for”, She concluded.
Itimi scored twice for The Prosperity Girls in the competition netting a brace in their 3-0 victory over Wadi Degla of Egypt a performance which earned her the Woman of the match award.
She also expressed satisfaction with the outing of her club but though a bit disappointed not to have won the trophy which was their ultimate target but maintained that it was a learning curve for them also noting that it was better coming back with a bronze medal than to return home empty handed.
