Hails Minister Sunday Dare For Recognizing The Federation…

President of Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation (NMMAF) Ambassador Henry George has stated that the federation will put out all it’s arsenals towards the development of grassroots fighters.

The Ministry of Youth & Sports Development last Friday announced the recognition of the Mixed Martial Arts Federation which gave birth to the existence of the Federation in Nigeria.

In a question and answer section with Journalist on a Whatsapp platform, The former world champion said, “We believe in Grassroots like I said earlier most of our event has been about education. Educating our referees, educating our officials and our athletes.”

He continued “We’ll be going to states, we will be establishing in different states Sports councils. We have secretaries and coaches educating our athletes because you can’t have a national events if we don’t have athletes and for we to have athletes we must go to grassroots.

We’ve been having event’s, Championships to encourage grassroots giving fighters opportunity to come compete to have that confidence that they are meeting fighters of their own class people who have not tried Mixed Martial Arts coming for the first time this has been our work all this while.

We have been working on developing grassroots because grassroots is very important. When you talk about grassroots you talk about fighters education this is what we have been doing over the years to improve grassroots in mixed martial arts”. He concluded.

The President showered praise on the Ministry Of Youth and Sports for the recognition adding that it is a big win for Nigeria and African as it will give a clear direction and a career path for youth in the country.

“I am great full to the Ministry of Youth And Sports Development and to Honourable Sunday Dare for keeping to his promise.

This is a big one for us and a big one for Africa because alot of Africa counties are actually looking up to Nigeria considering the two world champions and the talent we have in Nigeria. This recognition will give a clear direction and a career part for our athletes with this Federation athletes can make a transition to Mixed Martial Arts as an athletes having the opportunity to represent their states which will also give room to representing the country and become an African and world champion.

They will also become the responsibility of the state who would be talking care of them just like every other sports.

It is a big one and it will encourage the growth of the sports and also give an opportunity for young athletes to grow in the system from the scratch as a Mixed Martial Arts”. He stated.
