Moshood Olaniyan, the hero of ABS Ilorin FC’s 2-1 victory over Godswill Akpabio FC, has expressed his delight after scoring the decisive penalty kick that sealed the win.
The 16th-minute opener by Jamiu Sa’ad was cancelled out by Eugene Dung in the 63rd minute, leaving the match poised for a stalemate. However, Olaniyan’s calm and composed penalty kick in the dying minutes handed ABS Ilorin FC the crucial three points.
The Offa born prodigy in a post match interview expressed his excitement at scoring his first top-flight professional goal. “I feel so happy with this win, it was important that we win and I’m excited that we got the win. Scoring my first goal for ABS FC is a dream come true, and I’m eager to score more.” He said.
Olaniyan also praised his coach, Ahmed Sani Sarduana for believing in his abilities, giving him the opportunity to showcase his talent. “I appreciate my coach’s faith in me, and I’m grateful to the chairman for giving me the opportunity to play for this great club.”
With this morale-boosting win, ABS Ilorin FC will look to carry their momentum into their next match against Osun United next weekend.
