Nasarawa United Wallop Correctional Center FC 3-0 In Pre-Season Friendly

Paul Funom’s deflected goal in the first-half and a brace from Tolu Oluwole in the second-half were all Nasarawa United needed to subdue their opponents, Nigeria Correctional Centre FC, formerly known as Nigeria Prisons Service FC, in a pre-league friendly at the Area 3 Football Pitch, Garki, Abuja, on Monday morning.

The hosts looked promising from the blast of the whistle with Moses Sunday and Chijioke Eze both combining to wreak some havoc, but for the consciousness of the United defence.

The first-half was heading into a barren draw before GBS of Jos product, Paul Funom’s deflected shot off defender, Stephen Oboh, separated both sides going into the break.

Coach Bala Nikyu introduced fresh legs for the second-half, and it took the Solid Miners only thirteen minutes to increase their lead. Former Sunshine Stars of Akure attacker, Tolulope Oluwole, with a clinical finish after being freed by Bassey Bassey.

The energetic striker scored United’s third and final goal of the morning nine minutes from stoppage time, receiving a pass from former Warri Wolves’ hitman, Uche Ihuarulam.

It was Tolu Oluwole’s third goal in four matches in United’s colours since the team began their preseason tour of Abuja.

After playing out a 1-1 draw in their opening Group ‘A’ game against Cynosure FC(Ebonyi) on Saturday, Nasarawa United will resume their next Group ‘A’ action on Tuesday, 2nd November, 2021, against FC Mavlon(Benue) at the ongoing Abuja Unity Cup Pre-Season Tournament by 8am at the Area 3 Football Pitch, Garki.
