NBBF President, Musa Kida Pours Tribute On Coach Onisola

As the funeral of the late Basketball Veteran Coach in Kwara State , Coach Steve Onisola comes up on Friday, January 15th, the President of Nigeria Basketball Federation,NBBF ,Musa Kidda has poured an emotional tribute on the late Coach.

Coach Steve Onisola, 72 died on 7th of January after a protracted Illness in Ilorin,Kwara State Capital.

Kida in the dirge noted that Onisola who was FIBA badged referee with the likes of Chris Obojememe, Jimmy Ahmed in the 80s contributed greatly to the development of the game on the African continent.

“He officiated in the then African basketball championship now called Afro basket, All African Games and African clubs championship on numerous occasions spanning over 15 years”. Kida recalled.

He added that the Kwara Born Basketball connoisseur ‘was  a pioneer in the first set of kwara falcons basketball club in the 70s and was still a force behind the team even before his demise”

“You just need to get to the stadium and you will find him at the basketball court in Ilorin.
An ardent basketball lover,a man of peace,humble and caring.You will be missed greatly uncle Steve”.

In a what still appears mysterious, Coach Steve died 24 hours after the death of her sister the Yoruba actress star, Mrs Folake Aremu popularly known as Orisabunmi while the last child of the family, Janet Ademola also gave up the ghost 48 hours after Coach Onisola breathe his last.

The burial arrangements for the Technical Director of Kwara State Basketball Association is scheduled to hold on Friday at his hometown,Olla, Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.

His wake-keep comes up today, Thursday at the Basketball Court of Kwara Stadium Complex.
