Nigerian prodigy Tim Iroegbunam has joined QPR on loan from Aston Villa, reports OwoSports.com.ng.
Iroegbunam came through the youth system at West Bromwich Albion before signing for Aston Villa last summer.
The 19-year-old midfielder who made his professional debut just six months ago in the Premier League as a substitute against Brighton said he is excited about joining Queens Park Rangers.
“I feel excited, I can’t wait to get started and I’m ready to bring all I can to the team.
“I knew QPR would be a good team to come to because I was with the gaffer last season and I know he likes to play football. That attracted me.
“We got on well last season and I am looking forward to rebuilding that again,” Iroegbunam.
Speaking on Iroegbunam’s arrival, Head Coach Mick Beale said he is happy to have the player, emphasizing that QPR chased him all summer.
“I am delighted to have Tim. He is a player I worked with for six months and he excited me.
“We have been chasing him all summer and have had to be patient but I want to thank Steven Gerrard and his staff, Johann Lange (Aston Villa Sporting Director) and Christian Purslow (Aston Villa Chief Executive) for allowing us to have Tim because I know they have got high hopes for him,” Beale said.
Tim Iroegbunam who is eligible to play for Nigeria at the senior level having represented England at the U19 stage is set to remain at Loftus Road for the duration of the 2022/23 campaign.
Iroegbunam will wear shirt number 47 and hopes to make his debut on Saturday when QPR travels to Wales to play Swansea City in Round 8 of the Skybet Championships.
