Nigerian Sprinters Cruise into 100m Semifinals at CAA U18 Championships

It was a strong start for Nigeria’s youth sprinters on Day 2 of the CAA U18 Championships, as all three entrants in the boys’ 100m event secured automatic qualification to the semifinals from their respective heats.

Clifford Igbigbidje kicked things off with a solid performance in Heat 1, finishing 2nd with a time of 11.44s, narrowly behind South Africa’s Mukona Manavhela, who took the win in 11.38s.

Adeniji Adeniyi delivered a standout display in Heat 2, storming to 1st place in 11.08s (-1.3 wind), ahead of Algeria’s Yasser Bouhadila, who clocked 11.14s.

In Heat 3, Destiny Chinedu Egbon kept the momentum going for Team Nigeria, finishing 2nd in an impressive 10.85s, just behind South Africa’s Jayden Fourie, who won the heat in 10.65s.

With all three athletes safely through to the semifinals, Nigeria remains firmly in contention for podium finishes in the 100m sprint event.
