The Nigerian U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, thrashed Togo’s Sparrow Hawks 3-0 in a rescheduled Group B match at the WAFU Zone B Championship in Ghana, Owosports.com.ng reports.

The game earlier scheduled for Wednesday May 22nd was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch but the Eaglets made up for the delay with a dominant performance.

Abdulmuiz Adeleke opened the scoring in the 11th minute, courtesy of an assist by Abdulmuiz Oladimeji. Rapha Adams doubled the lead in the 36th minute with a sublime header from a cross by captain Simon Cletus. Adeleke sealed the win with his second goal in the 57th minute, thanks to a through ball by Cletus.

Despite missing a penalty in the 68th minute, the Eaglets’ convincing win sets them up for a semifinal showdown against Cote d’Ivoire on Saturday, May 25, at 7 pm. Hosts Ghana will face Burkina Faso in the other semifinal, with the winners advancing to represent the region in the CAF U-17 AFCON later this year.”
