It was a great display of soccer artistry from the players of La Planet Sport Academia on Tuesday as they defeated Alaska FC 2-0 to secure their first victory at the ongoing Nationwide League One(NLO) Division Two league.
The team, after playing out a 1-1 draw against Ijesha Warriors in their first game of the campaign at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti had approached the encounter against Alaska FC with alacrity and determination geared towards securing the maximum points.
A strong-willed La Planet dominated the proceedings in the first half but were unlucky in their pursuits to stamp their presence on the scoreline.
However, It was Coach Sheriff Jimoh’s tactical shift that would eventually complement the dominance of the Kwara-based football outfit, with the introduction of Shittu Jamiu and Oladele Abiodun in the second half serving as the tonic.
While Shittu Jamiu broke the deadlock in the 60th minutes with a cool strike after receiving a cross from Ibrahim Abdulganiyu, It was a reversed moment in the 81st minutes when Abdulganiyu flashed home a low cross from Jamiu to double the lead for the team.

The Technical Adviser of the team while speaking with the newsmen after the victory commended his lads for playing to instructions, even as he noted that it’s their debut season in the league and they are still a work in progress.
“I give kudos to my boys. This is their first time in the league and they showed a lot of improvement in today’s game than what we had yesterday. It’s a great performance from them and I appreciate the fact that they played to instructions and were positive in their attitude” said the gaffer.
The Tactician urged all the players to remain focus and resolute in the cause to secure the NLO first division ticket.
“I want to urge the players to maintain the spirit and be fully concentrated- I believe we will get the promotion ticket”
La Planet will be hoping to set up the final of the ‘Ekiti centre’ with the winner of group A when they face Ijesha United in their last group stage game on Wednesday.
The Coach Sheriff tutored side currently sits top of the Group B with four points with a goal difference separating them with a second placed Ijesha Warriors.
While La Planet encounter against Ijesha United have been scheduled to hold at 11am, the game between Alaska FC and Ijesha Warriors will commence at 1pm.
