Magate FC showed much improvement following an impressive 1-1 draw with Gbagada FC in their second match of the 2020/2021 Nationwide League One (NLO) Division One season on Thursday at Remo Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.
After the 4-1 defeat to Bulmaro in the opening day on Tuesday, Magate showed much improvement with resilient spirit and where unlucky not to have got the maximum points against Gbagada rather shared the spoils in a fascinating encounter.
Following a goalless first half, Gbagada broke the deadlock in the 62nd minutes via a strike from Fagbami Semiu.
Daniel Never restored parity for Magate with three minutes to the end of the game when he equalized in the 87th minute.
In much satisfaction Coach Farouk Yusuf applauded his team performance after the draw.
“The boys responded well after that 4-1 defeat on Tuesday, they responded well to training they where eager to correct their mistakes. If not for few mistakes during last minute of the game we would have picked up the maximum point”, he said.
He however expressed optimism over the chances of Magate picking up victories in their subsequent matches as the league progresses.
“We should be expecting nothing but victory in all our subsequent matches. In our camp at the moment everyone is happy our General Manager for the first time is full of smiles, even though we didn’t get the expected result but we are thankful for the positive result”, he concluded.
Magate will on Saturday file out against Buruj FA for their third game of the NLO season at the Remo Stadium, with 2pm as kickoff time.
