NNL: Coach Jerome Satisfied With ABS FC Debut Season, Laments Poor Officiating

Technical Adviser of ABS Ilorin FC coach Jerome Igbankwe said he is satisfied with his debut season with the club despite not meeting his target of promoting the club to the NPFL.

Speaking exclusively to Owosports.com.ng the former Zamfara United gaffer said they started well but were faced with lot’s of challenges midway into the season of which disrupted their plans for the season coupled with the departure of key members of the team in mid season, He also stated that NNL referee made matters even worse for them.

“The season was okay we started well along the line we were faced with some challenges that’s why we couldn’t meet up with our target to get promotion. We had three of our strikers leaving for another club we couldn’t meet up but the season was okay for us making the league more challenging”, He said.

“NNL is quite challenging because referee are not helping matters they are one of the biggest challenges we face in the NNL.

The former assistant coach of El-Kaneme Warriors said the season is behind him now as he’s now focused on recruiting new players into the team for next season following the departure of some players.

“The season is over attention shifts to next season we working to recruit new players, there are competition going on in Kwara State of which I have tried by all means to meet up to see if I can get players to prepare for next season.

The Taraba State born gaffer who began coaching ten years ago also talked us through his coaching career.

“I have been coaching for about ten years, my first club was an amateur club Dalachu United where within two years I promoted to the NNL from there I went to Zamfara United before working as an assistant to coach Hassan Abubakar at El Kanemi Warriors.

Coach Jerome however stated that he will continue with the youth development program of the club to further produces and give platform to young talent in the state.
