The Lafia City Stadium in Lafia ,capital of Nasarawa State will host the highly anticipated opening match of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
FC Basira of Lafia will face off against Mighty Jets of Jos in Conference C, promising an electrifying encounter. The stadium was chosen after the McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi could not meet facility demands as it was rendered unsatisfactory.
The change of stadium meant that Lobi Stars Will no longer host City FC of Abuja for the opener as ealier scheduled.
The match, scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 3 PM, is expected to draw a large crowd, given the strong fan base of both teams from North Central Nigeria.
The encounter will mark the beginning of another chapter in the Nation’s second tier league highly regarded as the ‘Most Important League in Nigeria.
The NNL season will kick off in earnest, with the remaining games in Match Day One fixtues taking place from November 16, 2025 across the country.
A total of 382 matches are set to be played throughout the season. The winner of the opening match will make history by claiming the Bet Power Locker Room winning bonus of N56,000.
