To a large extent, NNL 2020/2021 season is beginning to take a definite shape and teams are now bracing up ever than before to achieve the ultimate prize of promotion to elite league.
One of the match which has gathered a lot of narratives is the match day 12
encounter between ABS Ilorin FC and Kogi United coming up on Saturday at the Kwara Stadium Complex
In december 2020, the Kogi team traveled down to Ilorin and lost 1-0 to ABS FC in the encounter while in the season under review, Kogi United defeated ABS FC at the Confluence stadium in Lokoja 2-1 in March this year.
With the second leg fixed for tomorrow, the two teams will be clashing with some motives and targets around stability and survival.
While Kogi United are currently seating eighth on the log with 12 points, the ‘Saraki Army’ are occupying fifth position on the table with 15 points- both from 11 games in the group A2 of the northern conference of NNL.
As it stands, ABS FC will be looking for an opportunity to secure another maximum points at their homeground in a bid to get closer to the ‘Super 8’ while the visiting team who are currently in the red zone will be giving in a hard fight to avoid any further drop of point.
Another side of the story is the fact that Coach Tunde Abdulrahman of Kogi United will be facing ABS FC with a prior knowledge of the terrain having handled Kwara United in the past- an indication that coach Tony Encho led side might need to prepare adequately for a tough regulation time.
