Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin Football Club secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Madiba FC in their Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday 20 clash at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbow George Innih Stadium in Ilorin on Saturday.
The SarakiBoys got off to a flying start, with Ajina Boluwatife scoring the opener in the 17th minute. Ayoku Abdulrahman doubled the lead just before halftime, although Madiba FC pulled one back in the dying minutes of the first half.
The visitors’ hopes were quickly dashed as Jamiu Onikoko added the third goal for ABS Ilorin FC at the start of the second half, sealing the win for the home team.
Coach Anthony Encho expressed satisfaction with the result, saying, “The game was good. I’m happy with the result, even though we lost chances. But we’re improving in terms of goal scoring. This is the first time we’ve scored three goals in the second round, so it’s a huge win for us.”
The win propels ABS Ilorin FC up the ladder in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Southern Conference B. Their next challenge will be an away match against Abakaliki FC.
