NPFL Grounded, Adamawa United Pummel Katsina United, The Return Of Kano Pillars Messiah

It was another spectacular week in the Nigeria Premier League where Adamawa United, Wikki Tourists and Sunshine Stars had the last laugh together.

Katsina United were left in despair as they looked out of sorts while Delta Force were so much relieved when they finally pulled it off away to Nasarawa United. win a game after four win-less results. Elsewhere, Akwa United haven’t got it together yet and Abia Warriors got a crucial point away at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium. Let’s look at how it went in the Nigeria Premier League this weekend.

It is another intriguing week of top flight league across the country.

Adamawa United 4-0 Katsina United

Adamawa United trounced Katsina United 4 goals to nothing in a match that could probably propel the Adamawa side to gain more confidence to forge ahead as a first timer in the top flight league.

Identifying with their new stage of league and it’s rhythm could be very difficult for a new club, but the results is definitely an indication of their quick adaptability.

A reckoning and resounding triumph which has attracted a lot of perceptions with many onlookers still finding it hard to belief the highest goals of a match would emanated from a new club in the league.

The result has definitely pushed the Adamawa side to a peak which many will be keen to watch how they will sustain it.

Adamawa United who recorded their second victory in the league was ‘thrusted ‘ into the game with an own goal of Samuel Tswanya in the 13th minutes of the encounter before Idris Abubakar struck to give the host a comfortable lead in the first half of the game.

Felix Kenan and Sadiq Lawan would later in the second half of the game secure the three maximum points for their team against an hitless Katsina United.

After round of six games Adamawa United occupied 12 position with seven points while The Chanji Boys seat a position above their host with eight points.

Nassarawa Utd 0-1 Delta Force

Nassarawa United were yet again defeated at home for the second time this season.

Their woes was yet again compounded by Solomon Enudi 34th minutes strike as Kwara United inspired Delta Force ran away with the maximum points at Lafia City Stadium.

Delta Force in short time would change to Kwara United after the harmonisation of their NPFL slot sold to the harmony boys

Nassarawa United with a new coach in charge, Abubakar Arikya after the resignation of Bala Nkiyu, lost another opportunity to create a positive vibes for the supporters as they continue to play behind close doors after LMC ban, which emanated due to their violation of the league code in their home match against Plateau United in the match day 4 of the NPFL season.

The Solid Miners couldn’t turn their unimpressive tide on the match day 6 of the NPFL season, a predicament which may likely cost the team much than they think to pull through back to a safe zone on the log.

Not to good position for Solid Miners who won the Ahlan pre-season tourney in Kano during off-season and was celebrated by the state government, can their woeful performances be associated with the sacking of their former chairman Barr. Isaac Danladi who doubles as Club Owners Association chairman.

Time will tell if they can survive being drop to second tier division which is tagged the most important league in the country by NFF Vice President, Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi.

Nasarawa United are first from bottom of the table with just two points in six games while Delta Force/Kwara United are 13th on the log with seven points.

Sunshine Stars 1-0 Akwa Utd.

Akwa United on match day 6 of the NPFL again failed to prove a point to the target of the team authority when they secured the services of Coach Sam Obuh and former Nigeria Int’l Coach Duke Udi at the beginning of the season.

It has been lacklustre show from the Akwa Ibom State owned club since inception of this current season in the face of a growing criticism from fans and supporters of the club particularly towards the Technical Adviser, Coach John Sam Obuh.

The Owena Whales have not also been convincing so far this season, but coach Kabiru Dogo tutored side will be happy they were able to secure the much needed win via Silas Nwankwo lone goal in Sunday’s encounter at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.

Sunshine Stars with eight points in six games is not a good achievement for the team that made some reasonable recruitments during transfer window, notable of them is goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke who won Aiteo Cup with Akwa United in 2017 in Lagos. The Promise Keepers who are yet to record single victory this season are a place above relegation zone with four points.

Wikki Tourists 1- 0 Heartland

The Imo State based outfit still seems to be finding it extremely difficult so far, with just a win in six game not a good result for them.

Wikki Tourist continued to send signals to who care to know that they mean business this season.

Idris Guda Muhammed’s 22nd minute penalty kick was all that Wikki needed to condemn Heartland to their third defeat of the season.

Heartland being guided by the former MFM gaffer, Fidelis Ilechukwu, failed to find the back of net probably in the match day six of the league. They established an impression of going back to the drawing board for the team technical crew in order to avert any major blow.

With thirteen points Wikki Tourist are second on the log after match day six while Heartland are 15th in the table with five points.

Plateau United 0-0 Kano Pillars

Jos fans will be disappointed because of lack of goals in a game that was tagged the star match of weekend.

It’s obvious that Kano Pillars captain Rabiu Ali, who was just pardoned last week by the league organisers due to gross misconduct in Lagos during NPFL Championship playoff is the heart of Sai Masu Gida as his return to action inspired them to secure a point in Jos against run away league leaders with fourteen points while Pillars are in the drop zone.

Rivers United 0-0 Abia Warriors

The Pride of Rivers are on nine points, seventh on the log while Abia Warriors are a space above their hosts with same points but superior goal difference.
