Kwara United Football Club on Sunday evening, suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Enyimba FC in their NPFL Matchday four clash at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.
The Harmony Boys conceeding two early goals in the opening 18th minutes, as the hosts added the last in the 68th, through Emeka Obioma, his second in the game.
Emeka Obioma had earlier opened scores for the former Africa Champions League winners in the 11th minute, before former Kwara United striker, Adewale Adebambo doubled the lead for the People’s Elephant in the 18th minutes.
Kwara United were without their first choice goalkeeper, Adewale Adeyinka due to illness, as Abdullateef Ishola
got the nod to start his first game this season, while Dele Aiyenugba retained his bench position so far.
Kwara United came out more determined in the second half, but their aggressiveness was punctured in the 68th minute when Obioma netted his second, and Enyimba’s third goal in the game.
With the lost, Kwara United has not won any of its four games, losing two and drawing two, to garner just two points so far, conceding four goals and scoring none.
The team will host Akwa United in their next game on Wednesday at their adopted home, Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
Meanwhile, Enyimba FC of Aba today, honoured one of the club’s legends, goalkeeper Bamidele Aiyenugba now with Kwara United FC.
Aiyenugba, who was instrumental to the Aba based club’s two CAF Champions League back to back victories and was honoured during the half time of the NPFL Matchday Four game against Kwara United by the Chairman of the Club, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu.
