The NPFL 2021/2022 season match day one fixtures will be completed today with nine matches going down across game centres.
Recall MFM FC and Remo Stars had opened the season on Friday in Lagos where the latter got off a good start with 2-0 win over the Olukoya boys away from home.
Today, one of the game to watch out for is the encounter involving Kwara United and Dakkada FC in Ilorin at the Kwara State Stadium Complex.
Kwara United will be approaching the game with their head high having missed continental ticket last season by a whisker.
The team fell on the odd side of the law when the NFF disciplinary coommittee declared a three points advantage for Rivers United owing to an appeal against Jigawa Golden Stars who had featured an ineligible player.
Coming in to the new season,Kwara United who finished fourth on the table last season with 65 points won the Governor Dapo Abidoun preseason tournament in Ijebu-Ode.
Quite interesting, the team has also been able resolve the line of differences that arose from the ‘rhetorics’ after its Technical Adviser, Biffo Abdullahi was served a ‘query’ for failing to attend the club’s budget defence.
With the addition of new 12 players including the former Kano Pillars Striker, Junior Lokosa and the retainment of about 90 percent of their players from last season, the team stand a chance of getting the best of the new campaign.
While it enjoy the best of support from the government and stakeholders,the Harmony Boys should be able to better all the expectations in the new season.
Dakkada finished Eleventh on the table last season. They are considered to be one of the team who has the capability to upset the ‘so called big boys’ especially in their home ground.
The team defeated Kwara United in their home ground 2-0 in the first round of the league last season while the harmony boys avenged the defeat with 3-0 back in Ilorin.
Coach Umar Danlami Kwasau side as the second Akwa Ibom State owned club after Akwa United also enjoy some level of support and patronage from the state government- this has kept the on top of the storm even while some team drowned in the heat of the moment.
Coach Dalami joined the Uyo based side last year after Coach Caleb Esu left the club upon the expiration of his contract and the former Delta force gaffer has been managing the club with some modesty and decorum.
Going into the game, Dakkada on one hand might have been motivated by the Remo Stars away win against MFM FC in the league opener on Friday.
For Kwara United, it’s going to be a new feeling as they will be playing for the first time over a year now in the presence of their fans.
The match holds today at Kwara State Stadium Complex at 4pm.
