With their 2 nil victory over Katsina United on MatchDay 15 of NPFL, some kind of respite has now been restored back to the camp of Remo Stars after their run of defeats.
The Coach Gbenga Ogunbote led side had recorded three straight loss, cutting their runs of unbeaten record since match day 11 while also feeding the narratives of ‘reality check’ of how long their earlier good performance could sustain them in the league
It was all the Sky Blue Stars affairs in the encounter on Saturday as the visitors from Katsina struggle to compact thier own end and also failed to give a tough fight upfront.
While Tolulope Ojo’s header in the stroke of halftime had earlier sent the home team in to the lead, Andy Okpe scored from the spot at 73rd minutes to further push his side to a safe side of the game.
Remo’s dominance in the game can be partly dedicated to their maestro midfielder ,Dayo Ojo, who led the pack from the midfield- dictating the pace with his flicks and ‘masterly’ grilled passes.
With the victory, the Ikenne based side now has 26 points and currently occupies third position on the log. The team will face Enyimba FC of Aba in their next league game.
Enyimba on the other hand lost 1-0 to Heartland FC of Owerri in one of the matches played on Match day 15.
For Katsina United, it was their ninth defeat of the season; thus further compounding their woes. The Coach Abdulazeez Hassan tutored side are 19th on the log securing 14 points from 15 games.
Katsina United will host Dakkada FC of Uyo at their home ground of Muhammed Dikko Stadium in Katsina in their next NPFL game.
