NPFL Super6 Day 2 Wrap: Enyimba Records Win, Remo, Rivers Share Spoils, As Sunshine Rescue Point Against Insurance

The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Super Six continued today at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan Lagos with with some mouthwatering encounter which produced seven goals in the day two of the championship.

The first game saw eight time champions Enyimba raced to a 1-0 victory over Makurdi based Lobi Stars thanks to Emeka Obioma’s 16th minutes header which proved decisive on the day.

The victory took The People’s Elephant who are gunning for their 9th league title to four points on the log, while Lobi Stars remain on just one point from two games.

The second game of the day witnessed yet another dramatic display from Remo Stars who narrowly missed out of earning all three points against defending champions Rivers United.

Nyima Nwagua had fired The Pride of Rivers infront with just 16th minutes on the clock and they were able to sustain the lead into the break. But Remo Stars came out with enough vigour in the second half as they controlled possession created chances upon chances which later paid off on the 71st minutes when Lekan Adedayo tapped in Olamilekan Adam’s pass to draw the Stars level.

With three minutes of the five minutes added time played, Lekan Adedayo would also power in a delightful strike from outside the box to leave goalkeeper Victor Sochima helpless as he gifted Remo Stars with the lead.

Remo’s lead would only last for few seconds as Rivers United strike back almost immediately through Adefemi Lukman as they rescue a late point to level on points with Enyimba while Remo Stars remains with just two points from two games.

Bendel Insurance in their final game maintained their unbeaten run extending a record 22 in a disappointing 1-1 draw with Sunshine Stars.

Divine Nwachukwu opened the scores for The Benin Arsenal as he lunch on to a lose ball to strike home the opener on the 7th minutes. Insurance also had several goal scoring opportunities of which majority fell to Imade who failed to convert on several occasion.

Sunshine Stars also had their moments in the first half but couldn’t breach the resolute Insurance defense as they held on to go into the break with the slim advantage.

Sunshine Stars came out rejuvenated in the second half as Ekerette Udoh managed to tap in the equaliser on the 63rd minutes as they defended well to rescue a point as it ended 1-1.
