Ahead of Rivers United matchday three encounter with Lobi Stars of Markudi on Wednesday in the ongoing Nigeria premier league (NPL) championship playoff at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan, Lagos State,

Captain of the side Austine Festus has expressed optimism of getting the maximum points from the game which will go down by 7pm later today.

The Inspirational captain who has been sidelined and have been out of action for over seven months and have been actively supporting the team from the stands believes that they have what it takes to not only beat Lobi Stars but also return to Port Harcourt with the trophy at the end of the tourney.

Speaking to Owosports.com.ng, The defender reflected on their disappointing 2-2 draw with Remo Stars on Monday adding that he was impressed with his teammates who fought hard to get a point despite conceding late in the game.

“We wanted to win the game but it didn’t go the way we wanted, kudos to the team because at the last minute they were able to fight back to get the equalizing goal we are happy and okay with the results but we have to learn from our mistakes and work harder for our next game”. He said.

Speaking on the next game against Lobi Stars,

“The management and the technical crew have done a lot and this is not time for we to go back to training it is just physiology and try to talk to the team and tell us where we’ve done wrong and well also and for we also the players we just need to correct ourselves remain positive and approach the game to see that we come out victorious because we are here for victory.

When asked about winning the title he said; “We are working hard I think that is our target but it is not going to be an easy task we keep working and I believe that we will get it right”.

He also applauded the fans for their constant support urging them to keep hope alive and be hopeful that they would bring home the title and make them proud.

“I want to appreciate the fans of Rivers United across the globe I want to thank them I want to encourage them that they should keep hope alive and believe that we will make them proud and bring the trophy back to Rivers State”. He concluded.
