In press release signed by the media officer of Kwara United, Nasir Gide dated 29th of March, the management of katsina United FC debunked the rumour of holding Kwara United FC players and their officials hostage after the match on Sunday.
Kwara United won the game 2-1 at the Muhammadu Dikko stadium in Katsina.
The statement noted that the club wasn’t responsible for the debacle but for an issue between one of his player named Abdulkareem Ahmed and Technical Adviser of Kwara United, Abdullahi Biffo.
“The truth about the matter is that the Kwara United FC team manager in person of Abdullahi Biffo is owing one of katsina United FC player Abdulkareem Ahmed the sum of 110,000 naira for the past two years which he refused to pay him back.
“The player Abdulkareem Ahmed use the opportunity to invite security to involve in to the matter by asking the Kwara United FC team manager to pay him the money he (owed) sic him which resulted to the players and their officials to stay on the field after the match.
It added that the Coach Biffo eventually paid Abdulraheem through mobile banking after the intervention of some Katsina United officials and they (Kwara United) were after then allowed to go.
“Shortly after the money was transferred in to the account of katsina United FC player, Abdulkareem Ahmed,the team manager in person of Abdullahi Biffo was allowed to go after the matter is amicably resolved”.
The statement added that the visitors eventually left the stadium through the VIP exit door.
Assault on Referees:
Katsina United also promised to pursue to a logical end the reports of assualt on referees after the match.
“On the issue of the person that attacked the referees,it was after the match when the security operatives are escorting the match officials to their dressing room”
“The guy has already been arrested, and he will be charge to court”
Kwara United recorded their third away win of the season in the game to sustain their leadership on the log.
