NPFL21: NFF, LMC Release New Dates Adjustment For Week 38, Aiteo Cup Final To Meet CAF Deadline

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the League Management Company (LMC) have fixed a new date for the final round of matches in the 2020/2021 NPFL season as well as the 2021 Aiteo Cup final, Owosports.com.ng reports.

In an exclusive information made available by Aclsports.com on Thursday, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and League Management Company (LMC) have taken the decision to meet the deadline date of submitting it’s representative for next year’s Confederations of African Football (CAF) Inter-Club competition.

It has now been revealed that the final round of matches in the league (Week 38), earlier scheduled for Sunday, August 8, 2021 will now be played on Thursday, August 5, 2021 in all the designated top flight venues.

In addition, the 2021 Aiteo Cup final (Nigeria’s Cup competition final) will now take place on Sunday, August 8, 2021.

The new arrangements have also seen four Week 37 fixtures rescheduled. The games involving Aiteo Cup semi-finalists; Rivers United vs Lobi Stars, Nasarawa United vs Rangers, Enyimba vs Sunshine Stars have all been postponed for an extra twenty-four hours, till Monday August 2, 2021 (while Kano Pillars vs Wikki Tourists was also shifted for fair play).

The two semi-final matches in Men’s Aiteo Cup will be played on Friday, July 30, 2021. Nasarawa United will face Sunshine Stars in Asaba while Rivers United will trade tackles with neighbours Bayelsa United in Lagos.

2017 Aiteo Cup winners Akwa United look poised to land their first league title when they host MFM FC in the league on Sunday while three other teams; Nasarawa United, Enyimba and Kano Pillars are jostling for the two continental places on the league table.
