NPFL22: Akwa United Move Happened Like A Dream – Coach Ayeni

Newly appointed Akwa United Chief Coach, Deji Ayeni has described his Akwa United move as a mystery as he never thought of leaving Sunshine Stars having not completed the project he began with the club, OwoSports.com.ng reports.

“I can’t really explain how it happened because I never taught of leaving Sunshine Stars now because I started a project I felt should have been completed, he told www.owosports.com.ng

The former Sunshine Stars coach who helped the club to avoid relegation last season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) further stated that he wouldn’t understand how it happened as the move wasn’t what he planned for.

“The senerio stated two weeks ago through my agent who told me that some NPFL clubs are interested in me to come join them but I’m a kind of person who always commit what I do into God’s hand so I seeked the face of God over all these clubs, we prayed for divine direction within the line on my way coming from Jos after our match against Plateau United on Monday I received a call that I must be in Uyo on Wednesday for discussion and on Thursday for unveiling before I knew it they sent me my flight tickets to come over that’s how it all started and it was just like a dream.

He called on the fans of Akwa United to be patient as he his committed to helping the NPFL defending champions to regain their status on the league and finish the campaign well.

“Akwa United is a brand in Nigeria football and they’ve set a standard, which anyone that comes must rise up to their expectations so we are not far fetched from that expectations we know they know what we want and we know how it will be so we will set the tone rolling.

“I’m calling on the fans to be relaxed, patient and prayerful at the end of the season we will get the best results”, he concluded.
