Kwara United Football Club were this evening forced to a one-all draw at the Lafia Township Stadium by Nasarawa United, in the Matchday 16 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Kwara United got the first goal in the 19th minute, through Alao Danbani, after Kabir Balogun rounded up goalkeeper, Umar Danlami inside the box, before passing a low one to Danbani to score.
Michael Tochukwu, in the 64th minutes placed the ball with great precision, to draw level, but the homers had their hands full, as they fought hard in search of the winning goal which never came. Kwara United also had a fair share of the chances, which were also not converted.
Danbani was stretched out minutes after scoring the goal, and replaced with mesmerizing Issa Gata, who was roving from the left to the right of the pitch, to keep Nasarawa United players at bay.
It was the third draw for Kwara United Football Club so far this season on the road, after that of Abia Warriors and Akwa United.
Nasarawa United had after interval, made three quick substitutes, bringing in Ugochukwu Gabriel, Moyi Hassan and Chijioke Alaekwe for Manga Mohammed, Shammasu Mohammed and Bashir Usman respectively.
Chinedu Udeagha and Kabir Balogun, who provided the assist for Kwara United’s goal were injured, and were replaced by Ayobami Junior and Chisom Samuel, both of whom gave Kwara United more strength, especially towards the end of the game.
Kwara United’s Technical Adviser, Coach Abdullahi Biffo commended the players, and also dedicated the draw to them for their sacrifice and resilience.
He said that Kwara United will now shift attention to their next match against Mountain Top clubside, MFM FC, in Lagos, on Sunday.
