It was a not an all good day in office for Fidelis Ilechukwu in his first game as the Coach of Plateau United following his narrow defeat to Niger Tornadoes at the Kwara State Complex Stadium Ilorin on Sunday.
Kabiru Adeniji’s 13th minutes goal proved vital for Niger Tornadoes as he pounced on a defensive blunder to put the ball past Akande Abiodun- gifting Ikon Allah the lead which turned out to be the match decider.
Ilechukwu who recently switched allegiance from Heartland FC to Plateau United in the summer, was disappointed with the outcome of the game but promised to work on their lapses and bounce back in there next game.
“It happens in football. The most important thing is that we are trying to understand what we want to do and I think we played better and we will look to build on that in the next game”, he said in a post match interview.
“Yeah! not too good, but we have to look at the area of which we’ve not done our best, we will look into every area and try to correct every errors.
Speaking on the depth of his squad, the former MFM gaffer says the team missed the services of some legs who could have added impetus in to their set up.
“We had two players who should have started but because of one issues or the other we decide to rest them.” He said.
Plateau United will next week host Kwara United at the New Jos Stadium in Plateau State.
