Bendel Insurance head coach, Monday Odigie has attributed his side Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) opening day victory over former league champions Akwa United to luck, Owosports.com.ng reports.
Newly promoted NPFL side Bendel Insurance on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo stunned The Promise Keepers 2-0 thanks to first half goals from Imade Osarenkhoe on the 39th minutes and Sarki Ismael on the 43rd minutes.
Coach Monday Odigie meanwhile believed the results was not a true reflection of the game on the pitch insisting that the home team were tactically the better side but admitted that fate smiled on his team on the day.
“Akwa Utd were more tactical and experienced. Fate just smiled on us” Coach Odigie Said while answering to questions in a post match conference after the game.
He however added that they will go back and work on their weakness and strengthen up to be ready for the task ahead.
“NPFL is a big and tough league. Irrespective of the result in our favour, we are going back to work on our weakness and strengthen the boys mentally”. He concluded.
Bendel Insurance will next play host to Plateau United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.
