NPFL24: 10-Man Shooting Stars Holds Kwara United In Ilorin

Kwara United football club was held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by the Oluyole Warriors during their Nigeria premier football league (NPFL) matchday eight fixture at the Kwara State Stadium Complex Ilorin, on Sunday evening, Owosports.com.ng reports.

Kwara United began the matchday fixture on the front foot dominating possession and were awarded a penalty when Shooting stars defender was adjourned to have handled the ball with his arms inside the box.

Ayarinde Samuel would miss as his efforts was met by the woodwork to keep the game level inside the 20th minutes.

Captain Malomo Taofeek gave the visitors the lead in the 44th minute as he tapped in a rebound from a fantastic free kick by Lawal Abdulahi which came against the upright.

Malomo was later shown a red card for unsportsmanlike conduct. Ten men Shooting Stars would hold on to take their lead into the break.

Kwara United pushed for an equaliser in the second half and their efforts later paid off on the 90th minute when Mohamed Alao headed in a perfect delivery from Benard Ovoke to restore parity for the Harmony Boys.

Kwara United came close to getting a late winner when Benard Ovoke’s late attempt went inches away from goal, 1-1 it ended at full time.

Coach of Shooting Stars FC, Gbenga Ogunbote reacting after the game faulted the red card adding that it shattered their game plan.

‘The red card shattered our dreams you know Nigeria players when they are a man down they always move back. The red card affected us” He said.

Kwara United will next travel to Benin City, Edo State for their matchday clash against Bendel Insurance next weekend.
