Kwara United Football Club secured their first win of the Nigeria Premier Football League season by ending Remo Stars’ unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory in a thrilling NPFL match played at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin on Sunday.

Kwara United dominated the first half, with players like Akanni Akeem, Junior Aimufa, Yahaya Ibrahim, and Shola AbdulRaheem relentlessly attacking Remo’s defense. Despite their efforts, the first half ended goalless after Remo’s goalkeeper made a crucial save.

In the second half, Kwara United’s persistence paid off when Shola AbdulRaheem scored the lone goal in a solo effort in the 56th minute, sending fans into jubilation.

Remo Stars were reduced to ten men after Faisal received a red card for a dangerous tackle on Junior Aimufa. Kwara United’s defender, Olaniyi Saheed, had a brief scare after being struck by a powerful shot, but medics from both teams revived him.

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars in his post match interview acknowledged his team’s poor performance, while Kwara United’s Coach Ashifat Suleiman praised his players’ resilience.

Kwara United will next face Abia Warriors in Umuahia for match day six.
