The Nigeria women football league has taken a bold step to win more souls for Women’s football in Nigeria.

At a time like this, when many see female footballers as school dropouts and societal nuisance, the NWFL has promised to change that perception by making parents understand that young talented women footballers can earn a living through football.

The likes of Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanosie, Onome Ebi and many more, have become role models for emerging footballers whose dream to one day, ply their football trade abroad and make megabucks from their passion and talent can be achieved through hardwork.

To this end, the League body, took advantage of the opportunity created by the ongoing Super 6 competition to preach the gospel of Women’s football around Ijebu Ode and environs.

Intelligent and always vocal media officer of the Under 17 women’s national team of Nigeria, Faith Oluchi led the publicity campaign on Saturday morning, as the NWFL bus moved from one compound to another, calling on parents and guardians not to stop their daughters from playing football if that is what they have chosen to do.

The message reads in part ” footballers are no longer school dropouts, they also have what it takes to be leaders of tomorrow. Parents should identify the talents in their children, help them to nuture this talent and guide them to use it for a better tomorrow”

Many like Francisca Ordega who started playing football in the Nigeria league, moved over to the United States and today, she is combining football with education.

There is no reason why our girls cannot emulate Ordega and dream big Faith told the gathering at every compound they go to.

The board of the Nigeria women’s league led by Aisha Falode is daily adding new innovations in trying to spread the gospel of Women’s football to homes around Nigeria
