Team Anambra quest for glory at the ongoing 7th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) has begun to gather momentum and bear fruits with six medals won after day five of the youth games holding at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State.

Anambra claimed their first gold medal via the Poomsae event of the Combat Sports Taekwondo with Chibuikem Oranye making the state proud in the individual event. Oranye who later teamed up with Ogechi Elechi for Team Poomsae also got another gold medal while the latter was able to settle for bronze in the individual Poomsae.

The Female Rugby team settled for Silver in the finals played against Team Delta with some controversial decisions by the centre referee in the keenly contested clash played at the St. Patrick’s College Asaba. It was a moment of joy for Ethel Jimoh who narrowly missed the gold medal but however settled for Silver in Vault for Artistic Gymnastics.

The last medal of the day came through individual scrabble event as Victory Chukwuemeka settled for a bronze medal with a total of 826 points winning eight matches out of ten in a pulsating 10 rounds mental exercise.
