The First edition of Ogbomoso Land Marathon , 2020 has been postponed till further notice.
The Marathon earlier scheduled for 2nd of May,2020 has been postponed due to the ravaging Pandemic of COVID-19.
In a statement made available to the newsmen by the Media and Publicity Secretary of the Marathon, Yemi Sodeeq and signed by the Chairman of the LOC, Prince Remi Joy Oyebamiji ,the postponement becomes imperative in order to complement the efforts of the Government in curbing the spread of the virus.
“The Local Organising Committe of the Ogbomoso Land Marathon 2020 has decided to to postpone the event earlier scheduled to hold on 2nd of May till further notice” The Statement reads apart.
The Committee in its decision noted that the apart from the lockdown directives from the government,the need for social distance is also very important while the world fight off the novel and deadly coronavirus.
“Apart from the lockdown directives from the government, the need for social distance is also very important as the World continues to fight off the virus which cure is yet to be found”
It stated that the marathon could only hold when appropriate and fashionable to do so.
“While we are still going to maitain our resolve to organise this first in history Marathon in Ogbomoso Land ,a new date would be communicated to the general public when appropriate and fashionable to do so”
It further allays the fear of those who have registered for the Marathon saying their registeration fee is intact and assured them of its accountability as the need arises.
While calling on the general public to cooperate with the Government ,The release commended the efforts of the Government at all levels to curb the spread of the COVID-19.
The LOC also wish those battling the virus a quick recovery and prayed the departed souls continue to rest in peace.
