The second coming of Coach Gbenga Ogunbote to Sunshine Stars has ended abruptly after resigning from his position as the Head Coach of the NPFL side.

The former Lobi Stars’ gaffer in Akure resigned on Thursday noting the welfare package for the team’s players have been so poor.

His resignation is coming after 16 matches without a win in the 2020/2021 NPFL season amassing just 21 points from 23 games.

In his resignation letter, Ogunbote expressed disappointment over the failure of the team to meet up with their responsibility which has thus far affected him in living up to expectations.

“I took the job in the anticipation that we will continue where we stopped the last time I coached the team, with all hands pulling together to support the team having better results.

“However, on this occasion of my relationship with the team, the welfare of the team is way off the mark such that it affects the morale of the players and the collective motivation of the team.

Ogunbote over the last two decades has managed reputable teams like Shooting Stars of Ibadan,Rangers International, Enyimba and Lobi Stars.

He however didn’t reveal his next move after resigning from the Akure based side.
