Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Rwanda at the Stade Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, thanks to a brace from in-form striker Victor Osimhen. This win revitalizes the Super Eagles’ 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, Owosports.com.ng reports.

Osimhen, who has been impressive for Galatasaray, opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a clinical finish, tapping in a perfect delivery from Atalanta’s Lookman Ademola.

The 2023 Africa Footballer of the Year winner doubled Nigeria’s lead on the stroke of halftime, netting his second goal in the 45th minute. Osimhen’s brace proved to be decisive as Nigeria held on for a crucial 2-0 win.

This victory will significantly boosts Nigeria’s World Cup qualification hopes, which had been dwindling in recent matches. The Super Eagles will now look to build momentum and climb the qualification standings, with Zimbabwe up next on Tuesday.

The result moves Nigeria to fourth in Group C, four points behind leaders South Africa, who edged Lesotho 2-0.

Osimhen’s brace also cements his place in Nigerian football history, as he becomes the country’s second-all-time top scorer with 25 goals in 40 games, trailing only legendary Rashidi Yekini’s 37 goals.
