The Portuguese Football Federation has appointed a Spanish head coach Roberto Martinez as their new head coach for Portugal’s national football team following the departure of Fernando Santos.

The former Belgium head coach left his position at the Belgium National team after a poor showing at the recent World Cup in Qatar where they failed to make it out of the group stage.

The 49 years old has managed clubs like Swansea City, Wigan Athletic, and Everton before taking the Belgium National side in 2016.

The major honors in his career were guiding Wigan Athletic to an FA Cup triumph in 2013 and a FIFA World Cup third-place finish with Belgium in 2018.
