Dr. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor to the Ekiti Governor on Sports Development, has clarified the reasons behind Ekiti Queens’ failure to honor their Round of 32 fixture against Rivers Angels. Rivers Angels were awarded a walkover at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Thursday evening.
According to Dr. Osetoba, the club is currently undergoing restructuring, which began immediately after the conclusion of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season.
“We are working to reorganize and better prepare the team for the upcoming season,” she explained. “We faced numerous challenges during the last season, and upon my return to office about a week ago, I inherited several issues that required prompt attention.”
Dr. Osetoba extended apologies to all football stakeholders and Ekiti Queens FC supporters, promising comprehensive restructuring and improvements across other sports to elevate Ekiti State’s standing.
