Raheem Lawal Joins Turkish Side Akhisar Belediyespor

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Raheem Lawal has joined Turkish second division club Akhisar Belediyespor as a free agent after leaving Turkish side Fatih Karagümrük, owosports.com.ng reports.

Lawal, a product of Magate FC of Lagos signed a year and half deal with the Akhisar based team in other to turn the club fortune around as they battle relegation to the third tier cadre of Turkish Football League as they currently sit 16th on the log.

The 30-year-old midfielder last played an official game during his brief stint in Dubai with Al-Ittihad Kalba in 2018/2019 season.

He suffered a career threatening injury after an opposing player damaged his knee after a needless tackle.

This made the Nigerian to go under doctor’s knives to correct the damage done, thus kept him out of football for a season and returned to Turkey last season with Fatih.


Lawal started his professional career in Spain with Athletico Beleares before he was transfered to Turkey where he played for the likes of Adana Demirspor, Mersin Idmanyurdu, Osmanlıspor, Kayserispor and Eskisehirspor.
