Remo Stars Defender Ahmed Akinyele Rues Mistakes, Vows to Bounce Back

Remo Stars defender, Ahmed Akinyele, expressed his disappointment and frustration after his team’s 3-2 defeat to Kwara United in their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 33 encounter in Ilorin on Sunday.

Despite coming into the encounter with the aim to win the game Akinyele’s mistakes proved costly, leading to goals that ultimately decided the outcome of the game.

“It was a huge disappointment for us because we came here for the three points, but we didn’t get that,” Akinyele lamented. “Making mistakes that lead to goals, I really feel bad for the games.”

The defeat was a significant setback for Remo Stars, who are still in contention for the league title with five matches remaining. However, Akinyele remains optimistic, focusing on the upcoming game against Kano Pillars at home.

“We will focus on our next game at home against Kano Pillars, and I believe we are still in contention for the league with five matches to go. Anything can happen,” he said.

When asked to rate his performance, Akinyele acknowledged that mistakes are an inevitable part of football. “Mistakes happen in football, so apart from today’s mistakes, I will rate myself like 50,” he said.

Despite the disappointment, Akinyele expressed satisfaction with his achievements so far and his determination to push for the top. “Yeah, I am satisfied with what I have achieved so far, and I want to push for the top.”

Remo Stars will aim to bounce back from this defeat and secure crucial points in their upcoming matches to remain in the title race.
