Nigerian champions, Rivers Hoopers, began their 2024 Basketball Africa League (BAL) campaign on a high note, defeating last year’s finalists, AS Douanes, 77-68 at the Dakar Arena. This marks the team’s second win in the tournament since their debut in 2021.
Led by Devine Eke’s impressive performance, who tallied 31 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists, the Hoopers overcame a strong challenge from AS Douanes. Will Perry added 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while John Wilkins contributed 14 points and three assists.
The Hoopers will face Armée Patriotique from Rwanda in their next game at the Dakar Arena, looking to build on this momentum and make a deep run in the BAL.
